The Bruery (Brewery and Tasting Room)
High on my list of breweries to visit in LA, I finally made it here and wasn't disappointed. This location houses both the brewery and a tasting room where you can drink either pints or tasters of up to 40 different tap beers from The Bruery, Bruery Terreaux and the latest family member (April 2017), Offshoot Beer Company. You can also get growler fills. Small batch releases are also available from time-to-time. As a destination brewery, you will meet lots of people from all over the world to share your favorite beer stories. This is one of the must-visit breweries when you are in Southern California. Bruery Terreux
Bruery Terreux is a spin-off from The Bruery. The Bruery started brewing wild ales and quickly found out that they needed to separate that business from it's standard products so as not to infect them from the wild yeasts. With a focus on farmhouse -style wild and sour ales, you will find up to 48 beers pouring from the taps in the spacious Tasting Room. The tap list was split about 50/50 with beer from the Bruery. Aging barrels are in full view of the taproom and you can get a glimpse of some of the upcoming beers and collaborations from the barrel labeling. Nice outdoor patio to enjoy some beer in the great SoCal weather. Located just 3 miles from The Bruery. Location: 1174 North Grove Street, Anaheim Updated Jun '17 |
Venice Ale House
This place is on the beach facing the ocean on Venice Beach. It turned out that they had a surprisingly good selection of craft beers, with about 35+, mostly from the southern California area, the West Coast, and their own brews. The selection is made up of about 15 rotational brews on tap and another 20+ of more common craft beers. It was good to see a few of the beers were sold out. I like to see this as this is part of the craft adventure, some beers are available in limited quantities. Location: 2 Rose Avenue, Venice Updated Jun '15 |
On the Waterfront Cafe
Located just a couple doors down from the Venice Ale House, we had to stop and enjoy a couple more nice beers.

The Firehouse
Walking back to our car we noticed The Firehouse, a restaurant with a nice bar area and went in to see what they had for craft beers. Definitely found a truly unique one that was worth drinking. The unique flavor may not be for all but it was enjoyable. Location: 213 Rose Ave, Venice Updated Jun '15 |
Institution Ale Co.
The next day we found Institution Ale in Camarillo. It is a small place with about 7 tables and a bar seating another 6 - 8 people. They had about 9 beers on tap, all their own brews. There were four IPAs, 3 pale ales, a session red and a stout. They were very friendly and even gave us a tour of their brewery. They are growing rapidly and are planning a move into a much larger building. I believe they said their brewing capacity would more than triple after moving in the new building. Bottle & Pint
We found a new taproom in Newbury Park, CA called the Bottle and Pint. This was an excellent find. While they did not have any of their own beer the selection was very impressive. The tap list had about 21 craft beers from around the country, however mostly were West Coast beers. They also had another 30-40 craft beers in bottles. This was a crazy selection of beers, most of which I was not familiar with. We enjoyed the following: Location: 1714 Newbury Road, Newbury Park Updated Jun '15 |
Stadium Brewing Company
Stadium Brewing is a microbrewery, craft brewpub and restaurant which offers a full food menu. They offer a handful of their own craft brews and 50-60 taps of great California craft beer, domestic craft beer and international craft beer. This is a great place to go for some of their beer while sampling everyone else's too. I tried their Blueberry Lager, which was exceptional. For added flavor, the put in fresh blueberries. It's one of the best fruit beers I've had. Location: 26731 Aliso Creek Road, Aliso Viejo Updated Mar '15 |
Bottle Logic Brewing
Bottle Logic has made a name for themselves with beer traders across the United States with their unique beers, even though they only distribute in California. It seems that almost everyone of their beers is experimental, pushing the boundaries of ingredients and flavor. This was my first time here and I arrived to a packed taproom just 15 minutes after they opened. Fortunately for everyone, they will be doubling their taproom space later this year. They had a very nice variety of beer to choose from a selection of about 17 on tap. They also had some bomber bottles and growlers available. Less than 2 miles from Bruery Terreux, so you can easily hit the trifecta of great California beer in the same day - The Bruery, Bruery Terreux and Bottle Logic. Beachwood Brewing & BBQ
Beachwood Brewing might be more known for their good BBQ but don't underestimate their beer. They brew a lot of variety and share their 36 taps with other West Coast and domestic craft breweries. About half the taps were pouring their own beer. Great place for good food and good craft beer. I went to the Long Beach location but there is also a second location in Huntington.
