Regensburg
Regensburg is an interesting city with a mix of very old and new buildings, however this is not unusual for most of Europe. A quick search of the internet found a few old and well establish small local German breweries, and a bottle shop with craft beer from around the world called "Birretta Feinste Biere". The hope was that by visiting the bottle shop they could provide more info about craft beer places in Regensburg. Luckily this assumption was correct. This bottle shop had just opened their own craft beer bar about a 10 minute walk away. It was a total success.
Birretta Bier Bar
The place just open last week, so everything is new and fresh. It is in the lower level of a very old building. Once inside you will see it looks and feels like a beautiful old castle. There are about 7-8 tables and a long bar with about 9 bar stools. The beer selection was very large about 60+ craft beers from round the world, about 16 on tap the rest are in bottles and a few in cans. They do not brew any of their own beer, but the selection is very good. When I first arrived it was mostly empty with only about 8-10 people, however when I left later in the evening is was very busy, full of people and energy. While in Germany, it is always enjoyable to visit one its many established regional breweries. So to end the evening I made a quick stop at Bischofshof Braustuben Bier Garten. They have a full restaurant here as well as a hotel.
