Taiwan
For those of you old enough, remember when you could find a lot of manufactured goods with the label "Made in Taiwan? Well, those days seem to have passed, but now you can begin to find that label on craft beer in Taiwan. There are still just a handful of micro breweries, some of which have brewpubs. The better ones seem to be started by expats as Taiwan brewers are still working their way up the learning curve compared to the U.S., but there are exceptions, such as Taihu Brewing. Craft beer is becoming more and more popular each year. One of the limiting factors for investment in microbreweries is that the cost of producing beer is high due to the fact that all ingredients are imported. And the government tax is also high compared to a lot of other Asian countries. But still, craft beer enthusiasm and is growing each year as is the popularity of craft beer bars and craft beer imports by local hotels and restaurants.
