Strange Craft Beer Company
This is a very nice little brewery with a great craft beer atmosphere and truly craft beers. They are located in a small industrial block off of I-25 near mile high stadium. It is well worth the visit. They brew all their beer on site. The people are nice and very knowledgeable. They have about 12 beers on tap and a good selection of beer in bottles to take home with you. The unique thing here is that they even have a 10-beer flight; luckily you can do smaller flights. We did 6-beer flights. They even were tapping a firkin (Chai Poerhouse) while we were there. Beers enjoyed:

Our Mutual Friend Brewing Company
At first glance, this place did not make my list, however they were recommended by the other area breweries. It turned out to be an excellent place. Small and definitely where the locals drink. Everyone seemed to know everyone. Fun selection of beers on tap and a few uniquely special brews in bottles. The guys serving beer were very friendly and seemed to enjoy answering my questions about their beers. They had about 10-12 beers on tap. A couple ran dry while I was there which I see as a good thing. They were very busy and that's what happens when you have good beer. Also note, they do not open until 4 pm on weekdays and 2 pm on weekends. inside, there are 9 bar stools at the bar with a handles of tables. Outside is a small patio area with picnic tables. Bierstadt Lagerhaus
Mark this down… this could be the best America brewed Pilsners and Helles brewery. Bierstadt brews only pure German beer per the German beer purity law. I was a bit surprised that they do not serve flights or tasters. Their answer was interesting, because they do not serve a beer in the wrong glass. This place is a large 2 story layout. The bar and drinking area is upstairs and it overlooks the brewing area.

Ratio Beerworks
Nice place with about 10 beers on tap. There is a nice large open area with a high ceiling that makes it feel very open. They have about 6-8 German beer hall type tables. They also have a nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy their beer in the sunshine. They do not serve food, however they have food trucks. Beers enjoyed:

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project
Crooked Stave is probably best know for their sour and wild ale program. It is one of the best in the United States. So if you like sours, this is a place you should visit when in Denver. Tucked in the back of an artisan food market, Crooked Stave is hard at work brewing their beers. Bottle sales are also available here. They don't sell food, so simply order from one of the places in the food market and they will bring it to you at the Crooked Stave. Location: 1441 W 46th Ave, #19, Denver Updated Apr '16 |
Great Divide Brewing Company
Large brewery and taproom located just across the street from Crooked Stave, so if you go to one, you should stop in at the other. They also have a second place (Barrel Bar) outside of Denver. These guys make some top sellers in the U.S., such as Yeti and Titan IPA. They have a nice barrel aging program as well. Stop in for a brewery tour, then drink some beer and eat dinner in the taproom. Large selection of beer on tap. Location: 2201 Arapahoe Street, Denver Updated Apr '16 |
Rockyard American Grill & Brewing Company
Rockyard Brewing is located about 30 south of Denver in Castle Rock. Castle Rock is named for the castle-shaped rock formation near the center of town. Brewery and restaurant are at this location with the brewing operations being visible through a large window in the restaurant. About 10 of their beers on tap. Boulder Beer Taphouse - Denver International Airport
There are numerous places to get local craft beer at the Denver airport. They are spread out across the various terminals. Some of them are before and some are after the security checkpoints. I stopped at the Boulder Beer Tap House in the main airport terminal. It is located before security so you don't need to check in first. It's also a good place to meet if someone is picking you up at the airport. Location: DIA - Main Terminal (Jeppesen Terminal) Updated Apr '16 |
