Vermont
The Vermont Pub & Brewery
Neat brewery and restaurant located in downtown Burlington along Lake Champlain. Unfortunately, they are a couple blocks off the lake and don't have a patio view of the lake. This is a fairly busy bar with about a dozen taps and a full food menu. While, there, at tried a very interesting experimental beer brewed with blackberries. I found the beer to be quite good - enough berry flavor, but not too much to ruin the beer flavor. Location: 144 College Street, Burlington Updated Mar '15 |
Hill Farmstead Brewery
Hill Farmstead is a must-visit brewery when you are in Vermont or even just in the New England area. Great scenic location nestled among rolling hills and farmland. The taproom and retail sales are located adjacent to each other in separate buildings. There is plenty of outdoor space (deck and green area) to mingle with friends (new or old) while drinking fresh craft beer and enjoying the scenic countryside. You can go back and forth between buildings so that you can enjoy a beer while waiting in line to take home some bottles or cans. There is a food truck on-site. While perhaps a bit remote, it's never too far to go for great beer! Location: 403 Hill Road, Greensboro Updated Aug '17 |
The Alchemist
The Alchemist is the third highest rated brewery by users of the Untappd App. It's only beat out by a couple of meaderies whose total number of ratings pale in comparison to those for The Alchemist. If you've ever had any of their beers, it's hard to disagree. Their flagship beer, Heady Topper, is one of the most sought after beers in the United States. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to score any cans to ship home as they were sold out for the day, but I did get plenty of other varieties to enjoy at home. It's a great scenic drive to get here and it's a great destination brewery to make part of your New England beer-cation. Location: 100 Cottage Club Road, Stowe Updated Aug '17 |
Fiddlehead Brewing Company
Located just south of Burlington, Fiddlehead is another highly rated Vermont brewery. The taproom provides free sample tastes of their current releases and you can also fill up your growler bottles as well as purchase cans when they are available. They share a building with a pizza restaurant where you can bring your purchased beer from Fiddlehead's and enjoy it while eating a pizza. Location: 6305 Shelburne Road, Shelburne Updated Aug '17 |
Prohibition Pig
The Prohibition Pig has 2 locations which are around the corner from each other - the restaurant and the brewery. They both serve food -the restaurant has a typical pub menu and the brewery serves up tacos and burritos. The same beer is available at both locations. If you're headed to The Alchemist or Hill Farmstead from anywhere but the northern part of the state or Canada, you'll need to pass very close or even pass through Waterbury, so I highly suggest you pay them a visit as well for some good food and good beer.
