Nepal
Nepal is a very interesting place to visit, a true adventure. There are some wonderful things to see and do, Such as trekking and site seeing. However there is also poverty, and pollution. We went to see Everest and do some trekking in the Annapurna mountains. I was also very interested in the craft beer scene. I am very sorry to say it is new and just taking off.
We visited Kathmandu and Pohkara. The only craft beer we found in either cities was from Sherpa Brewery. It is brewed outside of Kathmandu and they do not have a taproom. However their beer was available in the hotels we stayed at, most restaurants and at most street corner grocery stores. So it is easy to find. Sherpa brews only two beers:
The common big brewery beers are brewed by Carlsberg. You will find Tubborg, Nepal Ice, and Gorkha everywhere. Gorkha is an old Nepal beer now brewed by Carlsberg. We stayed at two hotel in the Kathmandu area (Dwarika's and Shivapuri Heights Cottage) and one in Pokhara (Tiger Mountain Lodge). All were uniquely wonderful in their own way. Updated: Nov '17 |
