UTAH
Considering it is predominantly a Mormon state, Utah has a surprisingly active craft beer community. If you find yourself in Salt Lake or popular vacation areas you should easily be able to find a good variety of very enjoyable local beer. However, much of the beer is sold with a maximum ABW of 4% alcohol.
Salt Lake City
Squatters Pub Brewery
Large place with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a solid food menu to select from. Their walls were full of various beer awards they have won over the years. Most of them appeared to be from the World Beer Fest. It was interesting to see this place has been brewing beer since 1989. The vats were easily seen from the restaurant area. They had an excellent selection of their own beer and beer from other area craft breweries. I thought I ordered one of their beers and ended up with Wasatch Brewery’s Ghostrider White IPA in a can. I found out later in the week that Wasatch Brewery and Squatters Brewery are actually owned by the same company. Location: 147 West Broadway 300 South Updated Jul '15 |
Park City
Park City restaurants and bars have a good selection of Utah craft beers. For trivia buffs, Park City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic games.
Wasatch Brew Pub
The prime location for beer in Park City was the Wasatch brewpub on Main Street. They had about 8 of their beers on tap and another 8 or so of their beers in bottles and cans. Wasatch has 3 main breweries in the Salt Lake City area and 1 small experimental brewery. The bar tender here was great, very knowledgeable on their beer and the area craft beers. No Name Saloon
Great feeling place which you can tell it has been there a long time. Good menu, known for the bison burgers which were fabulous. Very nice waitresses made us feel welcome. Only had one beer with lunch, which was very enjoyable. Location: 447 Main Street, Park City Updated Jul '15 |
The Cabin
This place was a bit worn down but it was obviously that the place drew a crowd on a regular basis. It very busy with what appeared to be mostly local patrons. The bar had a couple guys signing rock songs on pianos. Songs were suggestions from all the people in the bar. They were not superstars but they were entertaining, probably what we should expect in Park City. Location: 825 Main Street, Park City Updated Jul '15 |
While in Park City, my week was filled with evening events, which provided numerous opportunities to try a variety of different Utah beers.
