Queen & Mangosteen (Archipelago Brewery Outlet)
Archipelago Brewery does not have a taproom, so you need to go to one of the local restaurants were they are the featured draft beer. They produce just a handful of beers. Queen & Mangosteen is situated on the Boardwalk across from Sentosa Island. It's a nice restaurant with ample outdoor seating and a decent food menu. Location: 459 Jln Ahmad Ibrahim (Boardwalk opposite Sentosa Island Nearest Metro: HarbourFront Station, Yellow Line (CC) Updated Jul '15 |
Mikkeller Bar
Mikkeller has several bars around the world. This one has got to be the smallest. It is only about the size of a shipping container, however, there are 20 beers on tap. So if you like Mikkeller beer, this is a good place to go. The inside only has seating for about 6-8 people with a little standing room at the bar. There is a lot more seating on picnic tables outside. Since the air conditioning barely works, there's virtually no temperature difference between in and out, however, the traffic noise level is fairly high outside. Location: 120A Prinsep Street Nearest Metro: Rochor Station, Blue Line (DT) Updated Jun '16 |
LeVel33
LeVEL33 is on the 33rd floor of the MBFC Tower 1 building. It has it's own elevator on the lobby floor. Lots of outdoor seating provides awesome views of the Marina Bay and the Port of Singapore. Beer quality is in-line with typical beer brewed in Singapore. On my way out, I noticed someone working on the one of the fermenters and engaged in a conversation with him. Turned out he is the brewer and provided me with a very interesting tour and conversation of the brewery operation, which was very much appreciated. The brewer formerly brewed at RedDot BrewHouse. Location: 8 Marina Boulevard 33-01, Marina Bay Financial Center Nearest Metro: Downtown Station, Blue Line (DT) Updated Jun '16 |
FreeHouse
Great international selection of craft beer, with 16 selections from Europe, Australia and the U.S. Taps rotate almost weekly, with a couple of taps dedicated to sours. Small bottle collection that wasn't very impressive as you can find them anywhere. Stick to the tap list, since it was a little more unique. Very friendly and knowledgeable bartenders and wait-staff. 10 minute walk to/from Chinatown. It's on the second floor, so from outside, you'll need to look closely for the sign as the entrance is between two other restaurants. Small pub fare menu. Location: 21A Boon Tat Street, 2nd Floor. Nearest Metro: Telok Ayer Station, Blue Line (DT) Updated Nov '16 |
Smith Street Taps
Located inside Chinatown Complex on the 2nd floor. I had a hard time tracking this down. The Chinatown Complex is full of tiny little food shops and the storefront numbering was not always sequential. A bare-bones stall with 5 taps. On the night I went, the taps were either Stone Brewing or Coronado Brewing. Nothing unique here. The complex is not air conditioned and it was extremely hot and stuffy which is normal for summertime Singapore. If you are there for food, there are a lot of options in the complex. If you are there just for beer, skip it, and take a 10 minute walk (or 1 subway stop) to FreeHouse or Burger Joint. Location: 02-62 Block 335 Smith Street, Chinatown Nearest Metro: Chinatown Station, Blue Line (DT)/Purple Line (NE) Updated Jun '16 |
The Great Beer Experiment
The Great Beer Experiment is inside a very large shopping complex with many shops of all sizes selling a variety of housewares, wine, food, tourist items, etc. Only 3 taps but 40-50 bottles in the cooler. Huge selection of (warm) bottles. Just a few places to sit. Great for grabbing a bite to eat and bringing it the The Great Beer Experiment while you try to enjoy a beer. I say "try" because they serve the beer in plastic beer glasses. I grabbed a Trappist Dubbel from the cooler and it was impossible to enjoy the real flavor out of the plastic glass. I would classify this more of a bottle shop than beer bar. The bottle variety was quite good. Great for "grab and go", especially if you want to bring something home with you. Location: #46 PasarBella The Farmer's Market, 200 Turf Club Road Nearest Metro: Sixth Avenue Station, Blue Line (DT) 15-20 minute walk Updated Jun '16 |
WitBier Cafe
Located in the "Little Arabia" section of Singapore. I stopped here expecting a variety of Wit Beer, as advertised. However, there wasn't a single Wit bier on the beer list. Instead, there was a handful of European lagers that you can find anywhere in the numerous bars scattered around Singapore. I was disappointed and did not stay to drink a beer. But If you are shopping in the area on Arab Street and want a beer, it's as good a choice and any other generic bar. Location: 14 Aliwal Street Nearest Metro: Bugis Station, Blue Line (DT)/GreenLine (EW) Updated Jun '16 |
Jibiru Japanese Craft Beer Bar
As the name implies, you will find a solid line-up of Japanese artisanal craft beer (20-30 varieties). Authentic Japanese-style food is also available. Outside of craft bars in Japan, this place offers the best Japanese beer selection, by far. Located on the 2nd floor (ground level) of the Somerset Mall. Location: 131 Orchard Road, 01-26 Nearest Metro: Somerset Station, Red Line (NS) Updated Jun '16 |
Burger Joint
One of a handful of Burger Joints around the world, this one opened in the summer of 2016. It's a nice addition to the Singapore craft beer scene. Nothing fancy on the inside, just a long bar and a bunch of tables to sit. Menu consists of burgers and it is written on the wall. Walk up to the kitchen counter and order your burger and fries. The entrance to this place is a little hard to find the first time. It's not on the street listed by the address. Instead, walk behind the restaurants on Amoy street to the alley and enter there. Two blocks from the FreeHouse. Location: #01-03, 115 Amoy Street Nearest Metro: Raffles Place Station, Red Line (NS) and Green Line (EW) Updated Nov '16 |
