Stone Brewing
There are multiple locations for their taprooms and World Bistros in the San Diego area. There are also more locations in Northern California. I visited the brewery location on Citracado Parkway, but I believe for the most part, they are all somewhat similar. This was a very large location with a large brewery. Another very touristy destination, so quite crowded. Some parking is available in the street in front of the brewery and additional parking a couple blocks down the street. Be prepared to walk a few blocks during peak times. The food menu is not typical bar food and completely organic, by design. So if your looking for a burger and fries to go with your beer, forget it. I personally found the menu rather limited in options. Locations: Multiple locations including 1999 Citracado Parkway Updated Mar '16 |
Port Brewing/The Lost Abbey
Port Brewing is the original brewery and The Lost Abbey is the spinoff which is brewing Belgian style beer. I arrived just before 8, so only had time for a pint. The tasting room closes relatively early and even earlier on Wednesdays - 5pm. Each night is different, with the latest being 9pm on Fridays. This is one of the top breweries in San Diego, so in spite of the early hours, I highly recommend it. No food available on location. Location: 155 Mata Way #104, San Marcos Updated Mar '16 |
Duck Foot Brewing Company
Duck Foot Brewing has been around for about 3 1/2 years and they have just opened a second location in East Village. I luckily discovered this brewery was very close to my hotel (a 5 minute Uber ride). The beers were all very good. Suzy, one of the owners, was sitting at the bar enjoying a beer herself. She was very knowledgeable about the beer business and shared the history of the brewery with me. The big surprise was that all the beer is gluten free (actually gluten reduced). I highly recommend a visit. Beers Enjoyed:

Pure Project Brewing
Pure Project is a nice small brewery with a handful of tables. Their motto is a good for the environment theme - Purity, Sustainability, Community... The beer pourers (Greg and Brooks) were very nice and knowledgeable. There was a very good collection of about 18 beers available. I had a flight of 6 and tasted a few others. Beer enjoyed:
